About
CETACEA is an independent design studio creating heritage pieces from neglected textiles.
The studio is drawn to materials that are often overlooked — deadstock fabrics, reclaimed textiles, vintage trims, and unexpected discoveries — and explores how they can be transformed through construction and ornamentation.
Each piece begins with the material itself, allowing its texture, history, and limitations to shape the design. Made slowly in small batches, CETACEA sits somewhere between treasure and wonder: familiar things made strange, forgotten things turned into sweet little oddities, and fragments of the past given new forms to continue morphing with time.
CETACEA is a one-woman practice — I source the materials, design, and hand-sew each piece in my studio in Jersey City, across the Hudson River from Manhattan.
